Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KV

Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Eric YAugust 9, 2011Great value for a spec motor. Running in a SC10 and hanging with the guys running 17.5 with boost on a med. size track. Very smooth power, no fade on 15 min mains.
Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Eddie E.July 10, 2011I ran this motor on our indoor clay track for several runs to compare it to what we normally run in our 17.5 Spec class with ROAR 0 spec esc's. I setup the motor with a Sidewinder sensor-less ESC with the timing set to "normal". The motor was extremely smooth to drive with absolutely no sign of low rpm cogging that is always present when running a real 17.5 motor sensor-less. This motor is smooth. This motor with the same gearing as my Duo2 17.5 ran 10 degrees cooler than my 17.5 with roughly the same lap times. It would easily pull 1 or 2 teeth higher than the 17.5 and did I mention that this thing is smooth. It made for some really consistent lap times because it was so predictable to drive. This would be a good choice 2wd Spec class SC truck racing, if your local track isn't too picky about tech procedures. This could save a father son team a lot of money and it's not so fast that anybody would call you out.

Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Dennis A.February 26, 2011Awesome motor for the price. I put it in my Traxxas Slash 4x4 it work pretty good. It's alil bit small compared to the 3500Kv that's in it. But it will make a good back up motor or if I have someone with lil experience. Great motor!!
Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5EvandiegoOctober 5, 2010I have the Tamiya DF03RA Lancia Rally car and installed this motor with my Castle Creations Sidewinder...I think it is great! I bought this motor to compete in a winter rally series racing in snow and the requirements were a brushed 27T stock or a brushless 17.5T - 21.5T. The 2230KV rating is around the 18.5T region I think according to Tekin's brushless chart. It doesn't have the top end rpm like the 27T stock motors but it's got GOBS of torque which means you can gear your car a little taller...which is what I did. 29t pinion and 75T spur. Did not get hot on a 2s 2200mah lipo more like luke warm after 20 mins of hard running. With my sidewinder it has a smooth startup. I set my esc punch setting to 70% (kinda like traction control when gunning off the line). The build looks really nice but I'm going to tape up the end bell bearing as it is exposed to the elements. The wires are stiff but workable and the plugs fit snugly in my esc wires. I'd suggest this motor for anyone who wants a driveable car like rally car which requires finesse and not so crazy top end. I highly suggest this motor!
Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Marlon SSeptember 24, 2010i'm using this on my scx10 honcho. crawls pretty good and still have a lot of wheel speed. However, many non-sensored brushless this motor will still cog/hiccup at really low speed. Other than that, great motor no complain.
Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Frank HMay 31, 2010This motor is on my son's slash. He runs in the stock class at the local track and you cannot tell the difference from stock motor speed and this motor. I have it geared at 23/86 and his truck is same speed as other slash's on the straight, but Id say the brushless has more low end grunt. The runtimes are forever with a 5000mah lipo. He runs two 5 minute qualifiers on one battery and has half of the capacity left. This is not a screaming fast motor, but a great stock replacement if you dont want to buy the Tatan over and over.
Tacon 3650 Brushless Motor 2230KVstar rating 5Johhny BMay 23, 2010i got this for stock sct class, very impressed so far. smooth power, plenty of grunt and enough for any length straight. i can make a couple 8th scale doubles early in the pack. the 3000 is a beast too. i'll get a high kv one when they are in stock again for mod class.
