EC135 500 Glass Fiber Pre-Painted Fuselage Yellowstar rating 5CeeJayMay 3, 2010Attractive price for a "500" size fuselage. Nice detail, great graphics, and strong f/g shell. Instructions are minimal as are lay-out details. I grabbed pics from AirLiners for guidance. Assembly is straight forward but several mods were required for the Gaui EP-425 to fit. Base plate height was shortened 3/4" to accomodate the high frame mechanics. The tail rotor is 3/4" aft of center using the 425 short-boom, even with the frame mounted as far forward as possible. Maiden flight was as expected - sluggish (like scale) but pretty !! I constructed a battery box under the base frame to accomodate a 2200ma 6-cell LiPo which is loaded through the bottom cut out. It must be as far forward as possible to maintain COG for good balance. Most difficult was the horizontal stab due to the diameter of the Gaui boom. I positioned it between the boom and tail rotor control rod by lightly sanding a u-shape channel in the top center to rest against the underside of the boom. It is lower than intended, but not noticible from 10 feet distance.
